NSA Northern Indiana announces the 2011 Hall of Fame inductees:
The northern Indiana Nsa Hall of Fame Banquet will be held January 7th, 2012 at the Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City. This years group is stellar.
Those being inducted will be:
Director: Darrell Garbacik - Darrell was the recreation director for the Michigan City Park Department in 1994 when Michigan City became the first park to sanction with NSA in Northern Indiana.
Umpire: Karl Swihart - Karl is one of two umpires to named National Umpire of the Year and National Umpire In Chief of the Year. Karl has served as UIC for Northern Indiana and, as an umpire, has traveled throughout the US as well as Canada.
Player: Stu Sheets - Stu has been playing NSA Softball for well over 10 years. Stu has two National Chamionships to his credit. He was with Mid South when they won the NSA Major World Series and just wont he A World Series with Wildman in 2011.
Coach: Jr Ousley - JR coached and sponsored the JR Polishing Softball Team in the 1990's. He was very successful in the years of the team in the NSA program.
Meritorious: Jeff Plank - Jeff was the Mayor of Warsaw and it was his dream and efforts that lead to the building of the CCAC.
Sponsor: Steve Blackford - North Central Agri Power - Steve has sponsored NSA teams in league and tourney play for well over 15 years.
Sponsor: Jones Group - The Jones group in the beginning was just Mike Jones who owned Mickey's BAr in La Porte. Over the last several years, the Jones Group has opened and owns over 23 Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants. In just the last 6 years, the Jones Group has sponsored over 100 NSA softball teams. Most being league teams from La Porte, Michigan City, Portage, Muncie and Warsaw. Mike Jones, and his son, Brandon will be inducted.
Park Category: Michigan City Park Department (also being inducted into the NSA National Hall of Fame in 2011) - The Michigan City Park Department was the first park department to become an NSA facility in 1994 and has been with NSA since.
Park Category: City County Athletic Complex (CCAC) Warsaw - The CCAC duel sanctioned with NSA & ASA in 1994 and 1995 became an NSA exclusive facility and still is to this day.
In addition to those above, Bill Van Alstine (Umpire) and Jim Kimmel (Director) will be inducted as they both have been inducted to the NSA National Hall of Fame already.
